Typewriter requires macOS 13 (Ventura) or later running on Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, or M4 chip). We've built the app specifically for Apple Silicon to deliver the best possible performance for screenwriters.
You can define custom rules about your characters, world, and writing style. The AI applies these consistently across your entire script and can read multiple open files simultaneously to understand your broader work.
Typewriter imports and exports .fdx files, allowing you to work with the industry standard format while enjoying modern AI assistance.
Regular is $9.99 per month and includes Typewriter software access plus monthly Included Usage across dozens of AI models. You can cancel any time and keep access through the end of the paid period.
Your $4.99 of monthly included usage is used first and refreshes after each paid subscription period, so it does not roll over. After that, Typewriter bills only actual AI usage up to the monthly PAYGO limit you choose; set the limit to $0 to turn PAYGO off.
The app works offline for writing and formatting. AI features require an internet connection to access the models.
Regular provides access to dozens of AI models from leading providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and xAI. Model availability may change.
