Usage is raw gateway token cost plus Typewriter's 15% platform margin. All gateway-available models are open to every account with enough balance.
How metered usage works
Before a request reaches the AI provider, Typewriter reserves enough balance for the actual input plus the full output limit.
When the request finishes, only actual token usage is charged and any unused reserved estimate returns to your Typewriter balance.
If your balance cannot cover the maximum possible request cost, the request stops before it reaches the provider.

You sign up free and add balance in the dashboard when you want AI access. Usage is charged by input and output tokens at provider cost plus a 15% Typewriter platform margin.
Before each AI request, Typewriter reserves enough balance for the maximum possible request cost. After the request settles, any unused reserved estimate returns to your Typewriter balance. Purchased balance is not refundable except where required by law or when we determine a charge was made in error.
The app works offline for writing and formatting. AI features require an internet connection to access the models.
