PRIVACY POLICY Last Updated: May 24, 2026 Welcome to Typewriter, a product of Front Street Software LLC ("Company," "we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information when you use our website at https://trytypewriter.com and the Typewriter desktop application (collectively, the "Service"). By using Typewriter, you agree to this Privacy Policy. --- 1. Information We Collect Account and profile information: - Name - Email address - Account settings, plan, and legal acceptance status Billing information: - Stripe customer, subscription, invoice, payment status, and billing portal metadata - Pay As You Go settings, monthly limit, accrued usage, outstanding usage, failed-payment status, and related billing records - We do not store full credit card numbers; Stripe processes payment details User Content and AI interactions: - Screenplays, scripts, notes, outlines, prompts, instructions, files, selections, and other content you create, upload, paste, generate, or edit in Typewriter - AI outputs, model choices, token counts, request logs, costs, errors, and similar usage records needed to provide, secure, debug, and bill AI features Usage Data: - How you interact with the Service (features used, actions taken, session duration) - Device information (operating system, app version) - Log data (IP address, access times, browser or app diagnostics, crash reports, and error logs) Cookies: - We use cookies to enhance your experience and analyze usage. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features may not work properly. --- 2. How We Use Your Information We use your information to: - Provide, operate, and maintain Typewriter - Authenticate users, manage accounts, provide support, and communicate with you - Process subscriptions, invoices, taxes, refunds, payment failures, and Pay As You Go charges - Track included AI balance first, then calculate opt-in Pay As You Go usage based on actual AI usage costs, subject to your configured monthly limit - Batch Pay As You Go charges through Stripe, including daily batching or later invoice collection - Route AI requests to AI providers and return AI-generated outputs - Communicate with you about updates, support, and service changes - Improve, evaluate, develop, train, and operate Typewriter, related services, AI features, and machine learning systems - Create, use, and retain aggregated, anonymized, de-identified, statistical, or derived data - Conduct research, analytics, safety testing, abuse prevention, debugging, and quality assurance - Enforce our terms and protect against misuse - Comply with legal, accounting, security, and contractual obligations You own your scripts and other User Content. You grant us the rights described in our End User License Agreement so we can provide, secure, improve, and develop Typewriter and its AI features. We may use User Content and AI interactions for model evaluation, fine-tuning, training, safety, and product development, but we do not sell your identifiable scripts or publicly expose them except as you direct, as needed to provide the Service, as described below, or as required by law. --- 3. How We Share Your Information We share your information as follows: Third-Party AI Providers: Your User Content, prompts, context, and outputs may be transmitted to third-party AI providers to power Typewriter's AI features. These providers process information under their own terms and policies. Where commercially reasonable, we use provider settings, agreements, and technical controls intended to protect confidentiality and limit use outside the requested service. Payment Processors: We use Stripe and related payment services to process subscriptions, Pay As You Go charges, invoices, taxes, failed payments, refunds, and billing portal access. Service Providers: We may share information with vendors who help us host, store, monitor, analyze, secure, support, and operate the Service. These providers are authorized to use information only as needed to provide services to us. Aggregated and de-identified data: We may use and share aggregated, anonymized, de-identified, statistical, or derived data for analytics, research, product development, model improvement, benchmarking, and business purposes. This data is not intended to identify you. Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or to protect our rights, safety, or property. Business Transfers: If we're acquired, merged, or sell assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We do not sell your personal information or identifiable scripts to third parties for their marketing purposes. --- 4. Data Retention We retain information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, secure the Service, and enforce our agreements. After account termination, you may have a limited period to export User Content if export functionality is available. After that period, we have no obligation to maintain or provide access to User Content, except where required by law. Billing records, invoices, payment status, Pay As You Go request logs, cost records, security logs, and support records may be retained for longer periods where needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, dispute handling, charge collection, or legal compliance. We may retain and continue using aggregated, anonymized, de-identified, statistical, derived, model-training, model-evaluation, or security data indefinitely. Deleting your account may not remove information already incorporated into de-identified datasets, model weights, backups, logs, or records we must keep, but we will not intentionally use those retained materials to publicly expose your identifiable scripts. --- 5. Data Security We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data. --- 6. Your Choices and Rights You can: - Update account information through the app or dashboard - Export User Content while your account is active, where export functionality is available - Cancel paid plans or manage billing through the dashboard or Stripe billing portal - Disable or lower Pay As You Go for future AI usage - Contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal information - Opt out of marketing emails by using unsubscribe links or contacting us Your rights may vary by location. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Deleting your account or disabling Pay As You Go does not cancel charges already accrued, outstanding invoices, or records we must retain. --- 7. International Data Transfers Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. By using Typewriter, you consent to these transfers. --- 8. Age Requirement Typewriter is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn a minor has provided us with personal data, we will delete it. --- 9. Changes to This Policy We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email, in-app notice, or another reasonable method. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy. --- 10.
